We have seven awesome volunteer high school runner coaches who are all super excited to help out this summer!
Hi I’m Alex, and I’m so excited to be bringing the Runner Girl Program to San Jose! I’m an upcoming senior at Willow Glen High School and have been running track and cross country since 7th grade. I’ve enjoyed working with young girls in the past when I umpired for my local softball league. Running has taught me so much discipline and hard work, and I’ve made amazing friends along the way! I love traveling for meets around the state and connecting with girls from other schools; this community is so welcoming. I can’t wait to share the love I have for this sport with young girls in the area, and hopefully inspire them to run more in the future.
Hi! My name is Izzy Fierro and I am going to be a junior at WGHS. I moved to the Bay Area all the way from LA with zero running experience. Ever since I started at Willow Glen my freshman year, I became immediately in love with the sport and the community. I am the captain of the team and run both varsity cross country and track. There aren’t many girls on the team and I would love to encourage more younger girls to get into the sport and the community. I believe running is not only a way to connect to others, but to also connect you more to your own body and mind. I’m looking forward to this summer and to run our hearts out!
Hiii! My name is Manuela, and I’m going to be a junior next fall at Willow Glen High School! I’ve been running since 7th grade during summers and in my free time, and when I started high school I joined cross country and track. This is now my second year doing both sports! Even when practices are hard, the energy and support from our community makes running so worth it and inspiring. One of my favorite parts about running is going on long runs with the girls, listening to music, laughing, and making fun memories together. I want to help show the girls that they can achieve anything they want no matter how hard it looks, and that running can help them grow stronger mentally and physically!
Hi!! My name is Ashlyn and I am going to into my senior year at Leigh High School! I started running track my Freshman year making this next year my 4th year of running!! I have done Track and Cross Country all of high school and am so passionate about the sport and the community it has created. I can’t wait to share all my love for running with all you girls!!! Can’t wait to have a blast with you all this summer!!!
Hi! I’m Gelila and I am going into my senior year at Leigh High School and plan on running at Cal Poly SLO in the fall of 2027! I began running cross country in 7th grade because my close friend persuaded me to. So far, I’ve run for 3 years on my high school cross country and track teams! I love how this sport encourages strong bonds between runners and personal growth! I am so excited to give back to a community that has done so much for me and create an uplifting environment for girls!
Hi! My name is Alina, I will be a senior this upcoming fall. I attend Willow Glen High school and have been running cross country for 2 years in high school and 1 year in middle school! Running is my passion, it makes me calm, happy and is very enjoyable. I’ve played sports such as softball and lacrosse so I’m always very active and ready to achieve the most! Cross country is filled with a community of girls who are so sweet, caring and extremely supportive even on opposite teams! The overall environment of cross country is always supportive and is always looking out for one another which I am so excited to introduce this community further and I’m so exited to meet you all this year!
Hi! I'm Iris! I am going to be a junior at Leigh High School. I've been running since 8th grade and have loved in since! I run varsity XC and track at Leigh and also play on the soccer team in the winter. I love the sport of running so much. There really is no sport like it! I am so thankful for the community running has created for me, and am excited to bring others into the community!!
