Practices begin with check in and announcements. We then do a warmup, including teaching the girls proper drills. Then, we move into our workout for the day. Depending on the age, this could be a fun game, a track workout, a run with music, or whatever our creative coaches think of. This is the bulk of our practice, which is around 20-30 minutes. Girls are generally split into four different groups by grade level, but we can arrange for them to be placed with friends if desired. After the workout we often play a game as a big group, or split into a few smaller groups. The game takes around 15-20 minutes. In the final 10 minutes we do a workout "debrief" and stretching circle with everyone, coaches included.Â
There will be two or three coaches running with every group, watching at all times. One will lead the group, the other will follow in the back making sure nobody is left behind. The only exception to this rule is the seventh and eighth grade group, which is a smaller group and is often managed by a single coach. Safety is our #1 priority and we will never let any child run off without a coach's knowledge. We also prioritize hydration and taking breathers if needed. Luckily, practices are held late enough in the day where heat should not be too much of a problem, however we will always be vigilant and make sure nobody is overexerting themselves. Two of our coaches are CPR and First Aid certified as well, meaning they have taken rigorous classes and tests to ensure their lifesaving skills are up to par, should an emergency come up. But our number one priority will be making sure your child is safe!
